My excitement levels went into overload, when Kate & Marcus’s email popped into my inbox last year .. .You see, I’d met Kate four years ago, at Cally & Andrew’s wedding. I was over the moon, when Kate and Marcus booked me to be their wedding photographer. I really do love being a little part of peoples lives, and having the chance to see Kate (AND Cally & Andrew) again was the most wonderful thing ever!
So, in March, I hoped onto a train to a part of the world I don’t know all that well – Yorkshire! I really really want to go back and explore one day. I saw a wee bit of a place called Ilkley and some utterly GORGEOUS surrounding countryside. My really good friends Paul & Kelly – aka Paul Joseph Photography, are based near by, and I got to spend some good quality time with them – who I haven’t seen in person, for a few years.
I normally get myself in my own car, and its always slightly nerve wracking when you depend on other transport to get to a wedding. I’d had a couple of nights in a really lovely self catering apartment, which was really well located, within walking distance from the station. So it was perfect. The taxi firms however, that was another story! The most stressful experience I’ve had in a long time, with the first leg of the journey from where I was staying in Ilkley, to where Kate and her bridesmaids where getting married, was about a 30 minute car trip .. and the cab firm didn’t send a car! :O We had the same experience AGAIN from the second cab firm who had been booked to take me from the cottage, to the church .. we ended up being about 20 minutes later than I wanted to be arriving at the church. My heart was in my mouth, because it looked like we had gone to the wrong church, all was quiet outside as I ran as fast as my legs could carry me, to the main door.. my sheer relief when I discovered that Kate & her bridesmaids hadn’t yet arrived! Honestly, I never want to relive that experience .. everything else went swimmingly!! And my oh my, my little socks where blown right off .. it really is breath taking, when you walk into Tithe Barn .. its a relatively new wedding venue – opening last year. Its a converted barn, with Bolton Abbey, just a stones through away, perfect to go and get a few couple portraits taken on a wedding day. It was WONDERFUL. Well worth checking out, if you are thinking about getting married in this part of the world!
Wishing you both, Kate & Marcus the most wonderful lives together It was really so very special, sharing this day with you all. Thank you so much for choosing me as your wedding photographer xx
