Kilts vintage dresses, and a rather gorgeous Country House

This story starts in a rather peculiar way .. but bear with me … I get there in the end ….

Those of you who know my husband, know that he is a keen cyclist, and whilst out one day on a wee trip, he had by chance stumbled upon a signpost to  … Carphin by St Andrews.. behind which, was a road lined with trees and a little stream that ran along side.

Keen to know more (as you know, part of the fun of getting out and about and exploring is discovering new places) we did a google search to find out a bit more…and this was the website we found….

And after a couple of phone conversations and a wee meeting with the very lovely Alex & Louise (part of the team at Carphin House) , the idea of this styled shoot was born.

This was to be the first wedding shoot that I had planned , of course Carphin Country House was the starting point for this Styled Wedding Shoot. But where from there?

I set about pinning images and ideas onto a pinterest board I’d created, not only to help me, but it was also a fantastic tool to share and see the ideas come together as more and more people came onboard for this rather fantastic collaboration . And this is how the next slightly bonkers part of the plan came together… it was obvious, other than images form actual weddings, there weren’t that many styled wedding shoots out there with young kids. AHAAAHAA!!! A cunning, slightly mad plan was hatched – I would, er… thats not right…ask (?) my two youngest kids to come along and be our two young models for a few hours on the day ….. as it happened it turned out to be slightly more than just a couple of hours…. but they were amazing (of I don’t say so myself!)

Be warned – there are quite a few photos below! Grab a coffee, and put your feet up 🙂 I’d love to hear your comments below. I’ve listed all the fantabulous collaborators at the end of the photos – all with links to their websites – well worth going to check them all out .. .

Hope you get as much enjoyment viewing the images, as we all did creating them  xxx

Photography .. why that would be me of course 🙂 photos by zoe

Venue ~ Carphin by St Andrews

Carphin offers so much flexibility for your wedding, they litterally cater for everyone’s dream wedding. Wither it be something small and intimate ~ them you could have your wedding inside the beautiful old country house itself. Or if you are planning something a little bigger, with more guests then they also have a permanent marquee on site too  – there is a lot more info over on their website.

Hair & Make up ~ Jillian Elizabeth Make up Artistry

It was so fantastic having the opportunity to work with Jill again. She is so bloomin lovely, and always works her wee socks off  – thanks honey for your help xx (p.s my kids are still talking about all the fun they had playing with you whilst I was busy running about snapping away 🙂 )

Bridal Wear ~ Lamesley Bridal Boutique, Edinburgh

Carly – It felt like Christmas wondering from room to room seeing where you had hung each of those gorgeous dresses. Thanks so so much for all your help, support and laughter on the day <3

(including dresses from The Vintage Wedding Dress Company, and stunning headpieces from DC Bouquets , wee flower girl dress – a family heirloom)

Groomswear ~ Gordon Nicholson Kilt-makers, Edinburgh

I found out about Gordon and his rather fabulous wife Louise and their Kilt Makers shop in Edinburgh, from a friend.. the best kind of recommendation I say. I utterly loved the grooms wear. The colours, tweeds, tartans – LOVED it! My wee one didn’t want to part with his bow tie either! <3

I’ve worked with Pam a few times – she has SUCH a creative eye, we had many conversations in planning this project. I loved seeing how Pam pulled all my mad rambling emails and pinterest pics into a beautiful real life creations.

Wedding Cake ~ Heathers Cakes

My dear old Grandma made the most gorgeous little hand crafted sugar paste flowers, and thats what initially had caught my eye with Heathers beautiful creations. Heathers got so many ideas – from the cutest little delicate fairy cakes, to gorgeous Wedding Cakes. Thank you so much for your contribution on the day Heather xx

Emma’s work is so beautiful in its simplicity and design and again, its been fab to get to know you through this wee project, and I hope we get the chance to meet up at some point.

Props ~ Kit & Caboodle .. including some fab 1920’s music playing in the background to set the mood 🙂

Lou – thank you so so much for all those amazing wee things you lent us – they were the icing on the cake (as it were, I love the details, that helped pull the ideas and feel of the shoot all together). I literally don’t think there is anything that you don’t have in that marvellous  wee shop of yours <3 xx

Props ~ Hatters Catering

Stella, thank you so so so so much – your offer to help for just a few hours, that turned into a day of running about behind the scenes, organising and arranging things, and as always your ideas, and your wee props – super duper star you are, thanks me love xx
